Sharp Edges of Drives

Every human being is unique, therefore the stress management techniques that work on them is naturally ought to be different too. Capteer has developed personal drives profiles to understand the factors that drive people and the factors that might steal their energy and prevent them from doing anything. The profiles include 7 different colors as identifiers of a certain kind of people and their motivations in life. These colors and their motivations are: Green: people-oriented | Yellow: thought-driven | Blue: logic oriented | Silver: integration driven Orange: goal-driven | Purple: group oriented | Red: power driven. These profiles have different reactions to stress and therefore need different methods to manage it. Sometimes these stressors might be caused by the over exaggeration of the drivers of the profile this theory refers to the over exaggeration of the profiles as the profiles “sharp edges” and the methods to resolve these stressors also lies in the profile itself. People have different amount of different color profiles in them so they might mix and match between stress management techniques accordingly.

Example of a Profile

Profiles

Green: As a people-oriented profile green is highly empathetic and looks for people’s best interests in a situation. Unfortunately, some people use this side of green people for their own benefit while disregarding the needs of the green people. While they may understand that some people use them, their general aversion to conflict prevents them from solving this problem, to prevent this problem damaging their lives green profiled people might benefit best from conflict management training as a stress management response. Also, green profiled individuals have a lot of empathy to others. While this may be a good quality most of the times sometimes the stress of feeling another human’s pain might create aversion in the empathetic individuals and might push them to look another way. To combat this anxiety green profiled people might benefit from breathing techniques to help them keep calm under stress. Sometimes when they are under a lot of stress or when they are exhausted green profiled individuals become obsessed in people’s feelings and the consequences of their actions and this spirals them down to a road that makes them more stressed. The cure of this problem for the green profiled people is to calm down and think more reasonably about the events going around them and use their empathy to really understand the people.

Blue: The most important thing for a blue profiled person is the structure and organization of all elements around them. They are very organized and structured and therefore they are extra reliable, but life is sometimes chaotic and hectic, and people need to find a way to navigate those chaotic times. Blue profiled people have a difficult time dealing with chaotic entities and therefore might use mindfulness meditation to keep them grounded in the now and maybe help them navigate the occasional chaotic times. As organized and structured individuals their main coping mechanism is probably problem focused coping mechanisms which involve time management and solving the problem that creates stress. So, the blue profiled people without those skills might benefit from learning them. When they show their sharp edge blue profiled people feel the urge to control everything around them in order to achieve total structure and organization. This urge blocks them from functioning normally and they feel like they are losing control furthermore. When they regain their energy and calm down, they return to their organized and structured persona and fix the mistakes they might have made in the time before.

Orange: As a goal-oriented profile orange is concerned mainly with achieving their goals and sometimes might disregard other aspects of life then achieving their goal like taking responsibility when goals is not achieved and taking all the credit while the goal is achieved with the help of the group. To combat these Machiavellian tendencies orange profiled people might benefit from psychoanalysis or talk therapy as a mean to better understand themselves and manage the stress in their lives. Those who do not want to go to therapy might use empathy exercises. For example, psychologist state that reading fiction is a great way to build empathy. When they become too tired and overwhelmed, they become a bit dramatic and focus too much on their personal goals at the expense of others. To overcome this spiral orange profiled individuals should realize that their goals and the goals of people around them are generally aligned and some goals are not worth accomplishing at the expense of other people.

Purple: The group-oriented profile of purple is in many of the cases the most important element that keeps the group together. Their respect for tradition and the status quo may sometimes hinder their abilities to adapt to a changing environment that is sometimes necessary. To overcome their inability to adapt and to combat the stress that change brings to them purple profiled people might benefit from mindfulness meditation to keep them flowing with the changing times. Many purple profiled individuals like some of the people in other profiles don’t like trying out new things and with the most commitment to status quo the purple profiled individuals may see the benefits of forcing themselves to try new things as it decreases the fear of new things. When they feel overwhelmed it seems like everything is changing to fast and they can’t control anything, so they become very rigid and conservative and resist to every minuscule change that is happening around them. Fortunately, they can solve this problem by focusing on the things that are familiar and they can overcome this spiral by focusing on their duties to their group and calming down.

Red: The people in the red profile are driven by power. They assert themselves in a healthy manner and act when others are afraid to do so. The action taker inside the red profile is a healthy element that every group needs but sometimes their love for acts makes them act too hastily and this makes them prone to mistakes. The red profiled people might benefit from breathing techniques to slow them down and calm them when things are heated. Also, they might find empathy exercises useful after a certain time because building empathy usually results in a calmer manner of conflict in interpersonal conflicts. When red profiled individuals are exhausted or very much stressed, they might show their “sharp edges”. When they show their sharp edges, red profiled individuals tend to become overly emotional and sometimes get offended by every little stimulus around them which might make them aggressive. Later on when they calmed down they find the strong leader in them and make up for the mistakes they made in the process and consolidate with people around them they might have hurt.

Yellow: The yellow profile gets its personal driver from imagination they can found incredible and unexpected ways to solve plethora of problems. They might get stressed out when they could not find inspirations or get distracted quite easily. To solve these problems, they might take a walk, especially in nature as it enhances imagination and eases stress and, they might benefit from attention and concentration training to solve their distraction issue. When yellow becomes exhausted and begins to show its sharp edge, they become kind of severed from reality and dysfunctional which makes them more stressed, and it becomes a vicious cycle. Fortunately, yellow profiled individuals have the imagination to find creative ways to get them out of this cycle and get back on their feet.

Silver: The silver profiled individuals tend to see complicated processes of life very easily and simply. They see the connections between entities in an intelligent way. Sometimes their great mind can get in the way of silver profiled individuals to communicate themselves to other group members who do not have the same ability to see connections like themselves. They also sometimes spend more than necessary amount in thinking rather than acting. These problems can be solved by communication training and mindfulness meditation training to help them enhance their functioning. When their sharp edges take over silver profiled individuals get very vague and otherworldly meaning that their connection with reality is getting weaker. To calm down they just need some time and space to focus and realign themselves. Fortunately, after they have calmed down a little bit silver profiled individuals can use their great ability to see complicated solutions and use that gift to solve the problems that might have happened while they were overwhelmed
